Add Today’s planning overview to homepage/dashboard

Request:
Add a “Today’s Planning at a Glance” or “Today’s Reservations” overview to the homepage/dashboard, ideally filterable by location.

Filter by location can be as follows;

When Branch Yellow Submarine is selected, show all items tagged Yellow Submarine.

In a reservation we add Check in location, this can create the tag Yellow Submarine, same counts for activities, etc etc. As long as all tags are correct, this should be a simple matter of filtering. Possibly also give them an option to have this view of ALL locations, as sometimes guests come to the wrong check-in location.

Context:
Front desk employees often need a quick overview of what is happening at their location today. This is different from the full calendar view. The goal is not necessarily to plan the whole week, but to quickly understand what to expect for the day and possibly 1 or 2 days after, so they can prepare things.

This is especially useful on busy check-in days, such as Sundays, when many guests arrive and need to check in, pick up tanks, collect rental equipment, or start courses.

Goal:
Give front desk staff a quick day overview so they can anticipate how busy the location will be and prepare accordingly. Be able to find guest reservations quickly when they are at the front desk.

Suggested functionality:
On the homepage/dashboard, show today’s planning for the selected location.

This could include:

  • Guest check-ins

  • Courses starting today

  • Boat dives

  • Guided dives

  • Tank rental starts

  • Equipment rental starts

  • Other relevant reservations for that location

Suggested filters:

  • Location

  • Today (and possibly tomorrow and the day after)

Use case A:
A front desk employee opens the system in the morning and immediately sees how many guests are expected to check in, which courses are starting, who needs rental gear, and whether there are many tank rental guests coming in. They can anticipate and/or prepare.

Use case B:

A customer walks in and wants to check-in and pick up their rental equipment. Front Desk employee can simply ask the name on the reservation, open their reservation and get everything sorted.

Use case C:

A customer walks in to a random location to ask where they need to check in or start their course, because they forgot and cant find their reservation confirmation anymore. Front Desker can either search and tell the customer where they need to be.

Use case D:

Its a quiet day and the employee would like to check if they have enough tanks and rental gear in stock for the coming 1 or 2 days. Based on this overview they can order new tanks or take other neccessary steps.

Goal:
Make the homepage useful as an operational daily overview, not only as a general dashboard.

Extra:

Maybe we can even add a custom TO DO LIST to the dashboard that can be filled in per location. So front desk staff can go through this list and see what kind of smaller tasks there are to do today or in the coming week, like, gear counts, tank cleaning, shop cleaning, clean rinsetanks, etc etc etc. I like the idea of the Operational Daily View.
