Conversational Search

This suggestion is part of my own idea when i was building the wireframes for my dive shop software, haha, so giving you my golden nuggets now…

Request:
Explore adding a smart search function that allows staff to quickly search across the entire application from one central search bar. I know you have the ‘search’ option in the header menu but i feel like we can make it smart.

The concept is similar to Spotlight Search on Mac or the swipe-down search function on iPhone.

Context:
In daily operations, front desk and reservations staff often need to quickly find a guest, reservation, activity, or available option while speaking with a customer in person or on the phone.

Use case:
A guest named Jennifer walks into a shop and wants to check in, ask something about her reservation, add rental gear, or book an additional activity.

In the ideal workflow, the staff member can simply search for “Jennifer” and immediately pull up her current reservation. From there, they should also be able to see relevant information such as:

• Current reservation

• Upcoming activities

• Recent purchases

• Previous reservations

• Customer profile

• Open payments or forms, if relevant

Goal:
Reduce the time needed to find customer and reservation information, especially during busy front desk moments.

Suggested functionality:

• Smart search across guests, reservations, activities, products, and possibly payments/forms.

• Prioritize active or upcoming reservations in the search results.

• Allow users to open the relevant reservation or customer profile directly from the search result.

Additional idea ‘conversational search’:

• Search: “Jennifer”
  Result: shows Jennifer’s current reservation, customer profile, upcoming activities, and relevant history.

• Search: “Morning guided dive this week”
  Result: shows available morning guided dive options for the week.

• Search: “Boat dive tomorrow”
  Result: shows available boat dives tomorrow.

• Search: “Tank rental Sunday”
  Result: shows relevant tank rental reservations or available rental options for Sunday.

Goal:
Make the system faster and more intuitive for front desk and reservations staff by allowing them to search in the way they naturally think and speak.
